what a "Kroc"?

as i ponder todays events i am ashamed to say i have promised Bubsy a trip to McDonalds. why is it that something so uterly disgusting is so annoyingly addictive? i even admit that when it comes to those cute little "anything but chicken" mcnuggets i flash back to childhood moments of pure joy. sweet 'n sour sauce and a toy to boot, they really have a great gimic going for them.

but i laughed as i remembered something i noticed the other day (yes, sadly again, visiting McDonalds..). the "founder and builder of McDonalds Corporation", Ray Kroc found his calling in a fast food chain. if he had only seen the success of his dream corporation beneath its golden arches he might have had a heart attack before it ever began. which i might add, may have saved me a heart attack or two down the line. but i digress...

the fact that Ray Kroc is associated with McDonalds is rather ironic to me. you know how we love to know the origin of phrases? perhaps one of the best known phrases is "rule of thumb" which was derived from the idea that a husband could beat his wife with nothing larger than his very own thumb. hence the rule of thumb . or there is "mind your p's & q's" that came from the ever popular bar scene where the consumer has had too much to drink and due to unruly behavior is told to mind his pints and quarts..

so, Kroc and McDonalds. where might this lead, you wonder? how about the phrase "what a crock" ? the coincidence is intriguing to me, if only due to its humorous twinge. while McDonalds might not be the truth of its origin (lol) it sure does cause one to wonder at the irony. so many options.

"Mr. Kroc's McDonalds, the biggest lie ever accepted, heck, almost personally invited by man."

"A "Kroc"pot of nutritionally related diseases."

i'm just sayin'...
